3D technologies

Since 2.7.2009 viewers have been able to watch films screened by the most sophisticated digital projectors in the world, including 3D technologies, in all the CineStar multiscreen cinemas.

DCI

Digital Cinema Initiatives, formed in 2002, associates major U.S. film studios (Disney, Fox, MGM, Paramount, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Universal, Warner Bros). In 2005 it published the first DCI specification (DCSS), a document that details procedures and conditions for transition from the 35mm film format to a fully digital format.

2K

This is the minimum projector resolution in the DCI standard. Resolution is the number of pixels (picture elements) per line and column that can be displayed. In 2K it is 2048 x 1080.

4K

This is projector resolution in the DCI standard. Resolution is the number of pixels (picture elements) per line and column that can be displayed. In 4K it is 4096 x 2160.

HFR 3D

‘High frame rate’ refers to frame rates higher than typical prior practice. A 3D film in HFR is characterised by a high image resolution as it is actually seen and perceived by the human eye.

Dolby Surround 7.1

Dolby Surround 7.1 is one of the latest audio formats. It adds to the previous format 5.1, the minimum configuration for the DCI standard, two spatial channels for more accurate positioning of sound effects.

DOLBY ATMOS

DOLBY ATMOS is the latest development in sound systems filling the room with sound fired from 360 degrees. In such a cinema hall there are twice as many loudspeakers as in an ordinary hall and there are ceiling speakers and side subwoofers. Film music, people and objects come alive with breathtaking details all around you and even above you and you feel you are part of the story.
